Gee... so what's happened this year that's worth a mention? Hmm
Well first off I now own a house. We bought a house and land package, selected the floor plan and style that we liked and presto new house. Well it did take a long time (like 8 months at least to build) but we're now moved in and got all the essentials setup. So now it's just the task of tweaking everything to how we like it. Next on the list will have to be a fence to keep out all the pesky neibour's.
While the house was being built (and it became kind of a race to the finish) shell and I had a child in the making. We were hoping that the house would come before he did but no such luck. We were still living with family when Dustin Phoenix weighing in at 8.2 pounds was welcomed into the world on the 5-8-09.
The next big event in my life wasn't the most happy of ones, when he caught a cold after being at home for less than a week. It quickly developed into namonia and bronchitis in only three days. After a doc visit he was quickly taken down the nearest hospital and held there in a stable condition until midnight, where they transported him to an UCI unit on the other side of the city where they could care for him better. They got local accommodation for us to stay only 5mins walking distance from him at the Ronald McDonald House.
We lived there for almost two weeks, the first week was really hard and I didn't think about much that whole week other than seeing him as much as we could. Mum was a big help with not only support but driving down cooked meals that we could store in the fridge. When were weren't out walking or seeing him we just sat around the house reading books or ringing people with updates. He was in the ICU unit for 11 days from memory 5 of those days we were worried we were going to lose him until the nurse told us that he was starting to get a little better and that it was unlikely that he'd slip away.
He told a while to start breathing on his own without help of a machine but he did and started feeding properly they were happy enough to move him to the ward. They were expecting him to be there for at least week but got better in leaps and bounds once he was out of UCI and was let out a few days early.
Things now are so much better (he got a good set of lungs on him) as he's now no longer sick, he even starting to smile and chat/talk to us (baby language of course). anyway this is what's been happening of late and seeing as Im typing this at work Id better get a move on before it's time to shut down for the weekend.
Take care everyone.
